Almost nodded, vigorously. "Y-Yes, of course."

Ludwig sighed. "I guess its no use then. Almos, instead of reporting to me each morning, you will report to Gem."

Gem nodded. "Today all of you however are going to show your skills first. This means that first you will be showing what you can already do in combat using swordsmanship. Then we will move on to Archery. Then I will test your magical capabilities."

Lark nodded in responce to this information. She was excited to be able to show what a women could do in an actual fight against a man.

Ludwig nodded. "I must go see to something. I leave them in your care." He said, walking off.

Almost watched himeave and looked back at Gem, waiting for their first instructions.

Gem watched Ludwig walk away and looked at the recruits. "Who would like to go first in the sword fights?" She asked straight to the point. Lark imediately raised her hand but just held it there not shaking it around like a child.

The recruit from yesterday raised his hand as well.

Gem nodded. "We got our first two then. Both of you get in positions on the field. Everyone else go sit down on the sideline." she said and Lark walked down to the field and stood on the right side of it before drawling her sword.

Almost went and sat with the other recruits, watch patiently.

The other recruit walked over and drew his sword as well.

"You may begin." Gem said and sat down with the other trainees.

Lark crouched down and waited for him to attack. "Make the first move bug brain."

The recruit brought the sword out in front of him. "Alright, then." He said, making a swift stabbing motion at her heart.

Lark swiftly dodged to the side and brought her sword over towards the back of his neck. Obviously she wasn't aiming to kill him but it certainly seemed like he was.

The recruit parried her attack, swinging his sword down towards her.

Lark blocked his attack and pushed him back swinging her sword down on him in a powerful attack that had quite a bit of strength to it. For a small girl she packed a punch.

He brought up the sword and blocked, nearly not making it. He pushed her back with his sword.

Lark pressed forward and pushed him back with all her strength before distancing herself from him. She was glad she practiced so hard. It paid off in te long run now.

The guy took a step back to readjust himself. He brought the sword out in front of him again, slowly starting to circle around her.

Lark turned following him waiting for him to make the first move. She had to tire him out. The less she moved the more energy she would have. The more he moved the less he would have.

He made another stab attempt at her.

This time she made a different move. Lark span around him and used his forward balance to take the chance to spin around to his back and put her sword around his neck causing the end of the fight. "Call me shorty again and see what happens." She threatened.

The guy grunted and sheathed his sword.

Almos let out a sigh of relief.

Gem nodded and stood up. "Very good, both of you. Who would like to go next?" She asked as Lark sheathed her sword and walked over to the seats then sat next to Almos.

Two other recruits raised their hands.

Almos smiled as Lark came back. "Nicely handled."

Gem nodded. "Go," she said in response to them.

Lark grinned. "Thanks, that guy didn't stand a chance aginst a blacksmith. I know swords in and out plus how to use them in combat."

The two stood up and moved into the ring.

Almos looked over at the recruit Lark had defeated. He found a seat and sat down, crossing his arms, obviously upset. Almos looked back over at her. "I can see that. You may have just made an enemy."

"That can be both a good and bad thing." Lark said looking over at him. "He's just a big site loser right now."

Almos chuckled. "You did good out there. He looked like he was going to kill you."
